Pigeon Project......Sunny....40's

Home is Where the Heart is
Well with much trepidation we took Leslie and Liberty on their
furthest journey yet.
Fifteen (not as the crow, er Pigeon flies) miles away and an overnight
stay. They were released at 7:58 a.m. and left together for the flight
home.

Leslie arrived  home at 9:50 and Liberty came in at 10:20, whew
was I relieved!

I didn't doubt their ability to find their loft but
know how many hunters and hawks and power lines are in between.

Here's a pic of Liberty waiting to join his friends and relations and to
share details of his trip.

You  should have heard the excitement in the loft when they returned!

Sweet Potato Casserole...Cloudy...windy....48*

Fall makes me think of my great aunt and her wonderful cooking. When I
told her I was getting married her first thought shocked me. She said
"think of all the meals you'll have to make!"  I would never have
believed she felt that way. Anyway here is a sweet potato recipe she
would always bring to our house in the fall and winter. We sure
enjoyed it, and with her company added in it was a treat.

 Sweet Potato Casserole

6 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes ( I bake mine, one less pan to wash)
6 tablespoons butter, stir into warm potatoes
1/3 cup honey
2/3 cup undiluted Orange Juice concentrate OR 2/3 cup crushed pineapple
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 tablespoon orange zest
About 20 large marshmallows

Stir all (except marshmallows) together until well mixed. Place in
buttered glass casserole dish and put marshmallows on top. Bake at 350
for about 30minutes or until marshmallows are browned. Let rest a few
minutes before serving.
