Pumpkin Bars

Anybody have PUMPKINS or WINTER SQUASH left? Here's a tasty treat that's a little different, to help use them up. Canned pumpkin works well, also.

                              PUMPKIN BARS

Cream together:  1/2 cup oil

                          1/3 cup sorghum OR honey

                           1/3 cup dark brown sugar

                           1 egg

                           1 cup pumpkin

Add:                    1/2 cup whole wheat flour

                           1 cup unbleached white flour

                           1 teaspoon baking soda

                           1 teaspoon cinnamon

                           1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or ginger

Mix Well, and add 1/2 cup raisins and 1 cup nuts. Bake in greased 8x8" pan 20-30 minutes. Test with knife blade, done when it comes out clean. Moist and yummy!

Meet another Jonquil Junction cat......

Hi I’m Flopsy, Soot and Mopsy's brother. I’m the vocal cat here at Jonquil Junction, I certainly believe that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and I make sure I make my presence known. (In fact it’s earned me the nickname ‘Willie Nelson’ ) .
Whether I’m sitting on the computer while the lady of the house types or checking out their packaging area ( just to make sure they are doing everything right, of course ). And they certainly know when I want to go out or come inside................

Today I was lucky enough to catch Lonesome sleeping so I got to warm up in front of the stove. What I really want to say ask though  is:
“Is it STIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WINTER??????????????????

Copper Earrings  by Richard.....

These  Beautiful Copper Earrings come from our resident jewelry maker here at Jonquil Junction.

Richard already had  years of experience with  precise woodworking  and working with the springs, gears, and  metals in his clock-making business.  When  a customer asked him to make a copper chain for a pocket watch, he used his knowledge of "work hardening" metal  to design and craft a chain for the watch.  That experience  soon led to a  line of copper jewelry, with a focus on earrings. He designs each piece in his head first then makes an individual ‘jig’ to bend and hammer the piece into the shape he desires. This time consuming process results in a unique and beautiful piece that you will never see in a mass-produced jewelry store.

All parts of his earrings, except the earwire, are handmade and hammered, from the hammered body of  the earring right down to each individual , intricate and  tiny piece .
He makes many designs, but only a few of each, and some designs are not repeated.
All Jewelry  is clear-coated to prevent tarnish.

Copper as ornamentation dates back to ancient peoples but is still timely today, and truly a craft that’s rarely seen  in  today’s mass market, carbon copy style designs.

Copper earrings by Richard can be purchased locally at Exotic cuts and Gifts in Leslie, AR.

Snow cats...............

Will winter ever end?

Hi, my name is Soot and I am Mopsy's younger brother. I am sleek and handsome
(I’ve heard them say I was the pick of the litter)!
Life was good and I  was quite happy at Jonquil Junction until they rescued a puppy they found out in the woods.  I wish they’d just left him there, because he has turned  my life upside down !  It’s pretty hard to act cool when you have to jump at every noise and movement, and they even let him in MY house!

However, given today's weather I want in too -- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Top Cat

Meet another Jonquil Junction kitty....

                                             Here's Jonquil Junction's TOP CAT.........

"Hi, my name is Lonesome. I am a Maine Coon Cat and I share my accommodations at Jonquil Junction with many inhabitants. (Too many, if you ask me!) However I tolerate all the ones that were already here, as well as  the ones that came after me, as long as they understand that I'm in charge. I am first to eat and as you can see  ALWAYS have the best, (and warmest) seat in the house! I hope they tell you readers my "TALE" eventually, as you will think me quite clever, I'm sure.

Please click on 'older posts' to see all our posts! Thanks :)

The items we offer are as varied as the weather in these hills!
Hand-hammered copper jewelry, handmade wood case clocks, biscuit and rag quilts, handsewn infant gifts, handcrafted soap, & homespun tales and photos of our menagerie of four footed and feathered friends.
